Hinze Dam (Advancetown Lake)
Located in the Gold Coast hinterland, Hinze Dam was built to provide a potable water supply for the Gold Coast region. The dam has also become a popular recreational facility. Hinze Dam has been stocked with Australian Bass, Golden Perch, Mary River Cod, Silver Perch and Saratoga.
With a surface area of 1500 hectares, Hinze has developed into a huge playground for the recreational angler. Fishing is only permitted by the use of manual or electric powered vessels.
Bass and Saratoga are the main targets for anglers. Baitfish populations of Boney Bream, Spangled Perch and Banded Grunter no doubt provide a good food source for these predators. As a result 50cm+ Bass and Saratoga over 70cm are often reported.
Hinze Dam is one of 63 impoundments (dams and weirs) in Queensland that require a Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS) permit to fish with a line. These impoundments are stocked with native fish specifically for recreational fishing.
Hinze Dam and recreational facilities are open to the public 7 days a week 5:30am-6:30pm (September-April) and 6:00am-5:30pm (May-August).
No visiting angler should leave the Gold Coast without fishing Hinze Hall Dam. Book your charter HERE today or CONTACT US for more info.
